Volunteer Opportunities

Request for 50 volunteers: Morley – sort/organize donations July 4 – 7

Morley Community School Emergency Shelter has been receiving donations for community members, and is running out of space to store them all. While we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our neighbors, we recognize that it is time to distribute all the donations and get them to the community members who need them.

We need volunteers to help from Thursday to Sunday getting our donations organized and distributed. We have been distributing a little at a time, but we would like to open our doors to everyone in Morley who has been affected by the flood and give everything away.

We need 50 volunteers each day for any amount of time you can offer between 10:00AM and 8:00PM.

Food and water will be supplied. The manual labor involved is just moving tables and bags or boxes of clothes. No special skills or safety gear is required.

We are working in the school gym which is not air conditioned so please dress appropriately.

**Please do not wait to be contacted after you sign up. Proceed to the Morley Community School for your assigned day.

Request for 10 Volunteers: Demolition help in High River home (YYCHelps #74)

We would be so appreciative if some volunteers could help tear out the bottom 4′ of dry wall in our home. The garage door also needs to be lifted so that the garage can be accessed and cleaned out as well. The basement is obviously higher priority as the garage isn’t attached. There may be some heavier lifting in the garage.

FULL Request for Volunteers: High River families need help clearing homes July 1

THIS OPPORTUNITY IS FULL

I have arranged with a few families in High River to meet volunteers and direct them to the right home that needs cleanup. We would love to have 40 volunteers tomorrow to help clear out 20+ homes in High River. They are primarily seniors with limited help available to them. There is no standing water, but all the mud remains so the basements and main floors need to be cleared and have drywall removed. Most homes have been labelled as “requiring extensive repairs or renovations not immediately habitable, residents enter at their own risk.”

You cannot get into High River without a pass – DO NOT show up without calling and confirming first. You will be turned away and we do not want to waste your time.

If you wish to volunteer tomorrow please confirm with Kerri between 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM July 1 by calling *FULL*. If you do not speak with Kerri and confirm please do not come. I have a set number of passes to get into High River on July 1st for specific houses.
